SPC INFOTRANS (Research-and-production center of information and transport systems) has been created in January, 1990 in the city of Samara. Creation of the center was caused by improvement of railway transport equipment and necessity to duly obtain, process and systematize status information in this field and in developments of new perspective tasks of railway constructions diagnostics, first of all, of railway roads and contact network. The first founder of the center as of an independent enterprise became the Association "The Cosmonautics – to mankind" (at that time the center was its department).
In 1992 SPC INFOTRANS has been transformed into closed joint-stock company. Now founders of CJSC SPC INFOTRANS include: Volga region Department of Technological sciences Academy of the Russian Federation and State scientific center of the Russian Federation - Research Institute of nuclear reactors (Dimitrovgrad city).
The creation of the enterprise was based on long-term work of group of scientists headed by S.V.Arkhangelsky, that was carried out at first in Kuybishev polytechnical institute (KPI), and then in Kuybishev institute of railway transport engineers (KIIT).These ideas were further developed in SPC INFOTRANS. It all began in 1960 in Kuybishev politechnical institute when a group of students created an informal youth union which became to be known as student's research sector of cybernetics.
After graduation the basic members of student's research sector of cybernetics have joined the new scientific laboratory created on the basis of "Computer facilities" department of Kuybishev politechnical Institute. External orders began to appear. The laboratory created a synthesizer of speech for scientific research institute "Long-distance transmission" (Leningrad), as well as unique devices for research of speech signals for voice dialogue of people with the computer. In those days the above named developments were at a world-scale advanced level.
Later appeared computer center at Kuybishev Institute of railway engineers, where the group under guidance of S.V.Arhangelsky was engaged in vibro-acoustical diagnostics of diesels, in automation of medical diagnostics process as well as in the work at other questions connected to information science and cybernetics.
The Kuybishev railway invaluably helped in creation of SPC INFOTRANS as it has given it working areas necessary for the enterprise’s establishment as well as range and cars-laboratories for processing and checking of items developed by the factory. It also helped and participated in developments of the enterprise. In 1990 the Kuybishev railway has transferred its functions of a design and technological bureau to SPC INFOTRANS from now on became one of the basic partners concerning introduction of achievements of scientific and technical progress on railways. Nowadays cooperation of railway and SPC INFOTRANS covers track maintenances, locomotive facilities, electrification and an electric-power supply, signaling systems and communication, wagon facilities, personnel management and all railway departments.
SPC INFOTRANS is a modern enterprise conducting development of computer technologies in various fields of human activity, including transport, industry and medicine. The enterprise is headed by academician of Academy of technological sciences and of International academy of informalization, Dr.Sci.Tech., professor S.V. Arkhangelsky.
SPC INFOTRANS is a leading partner of JSC "Russian railways" and railways of the CIS in manufacturing and development of new models of the computerized cars-laboratories for automatic diagnostics of tracks and contact network as well as various testing equipment for railways.
Nowadays there are more than 400 employees working at the enterprise. Among them there are: seven doctors of sciences and more than 20 candidates of sciences including 2 academicians and 5 correspondent-members of various academies of sciences. In addition to the regular employees the center also involves in its work experts of various firms and design bureaus of Samara, Moscow, St.-Petersburg.
